Table It - Spot on Perch

Sometimes you find the best home pieces in the most unexpected places. The other night I was faced with another dinner to make and another need for something more exciting than chicken! Flipping through Cooking Light I stumbled upon these SWEET Spot Bowls from Perch!. Helloooo Fabulous! They are the perfect size for an ice cream treat, a great hostess present to hold jewelry or a place for me to leave my keys when I walk in the door. The colors are happy and with that gentle "swoop" how can one not fall for them? The turquoise has promptly been placed on my wish list, is it too early to start thinking of Birthday presents? Never!

Home Typography Tuesday

Here we are at my second week of "Home Type Tuesday"! I am so excited for this series and from the response it sounds like you are too. Who knew I were so many typography crazed people out there?! Today's photo has been saved in the file for a few months now courtesy of Decor8 and Brume! I have used window film in a few client projects and it is always a perfect solution. Window Film + Type? Well that equals an even better solution!

The beach elegance of Ocean Breezes

Let's just start by saying AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, BREATH TAKING as words to describe this 5200 sq ft "Ocean Breezes" beach house in New Hampshire! The "Sea Salt" color which weaves its way through the main floor mimics the sea and sky while creating a calming feel. Rooms easily open from one to another with views of the Atlantic from every angle, heavenly! One aspect of the house I love most is the reverse layout, the guest bedrooms are on the first floor and the living spaces including the kitchen are on the second floor. This house has a more elegant beach house feel but regardless of your taste in beach houses I think we can all find something to love about this one! Did you see the black and white toile bedroom, the bold stripes in the hall with the sweet lighthouse, oh and the master bedroom with that old world Hollywood feel? That is a room I would like to wake up in every single day and end my day with dinner on the terrace! I am going to stop writing now so you can all take the tour. You all know what I think, but what are your thoughts on this house? Do you like the idea of a reverse home?

All of these daydream worthy photos were found in Coastal Home's Spring Magazine. They are a new local magazine straight out of New Hampshire and have been giving me many reasons to fill my beach inspiration folder! I suggest following them on twitter and facebook as I promise they will have you dreaming of your own beach retreat!

Color Time - Sherwin Williams Sea Salt

It's Color Time and I am so excited to share this week's pick with you! When I saw this foyer on the Coastal Homes website I almost fell off the sofa, hello lovey! Isn't it just the perfect color for a beach house? It is so...well, "Sea Salt"!

<span class=

Check back this afternoon for a tour of this incredible beach house, it is truly breath taking!

**Note: As you can see above the paint chip sample online looks different than what is in the actual room photo. When choosing paint for your own home never go by what you see online, the color will always be a tad different. I suggest picking up a small paint sample at the store and paint a color swatch in the actual room, than you will never be disappointed!

- Sorry for the delay, the 2nd part of this post will be up tomorrow - technology likes to work against me sometimes!!

Home Typography Tuesday

Welcome to "Home Typography Tuesday"! If you have been reading CreateGirl for a while now you might know 3 of my favorite loves are Tableware, Interiors and Typography! Friends know I get a weee bit excited when I see typography in home design and often send me images when they come across a piece they know I will love! I think in another life I would be a graphic designer....letter, numbers, fonts OH MY!

"You have my whole heart for my whole life".......perfectly said!

Wood Top Kitchen Islands

Lately I have noticed wood top islands in many kitchens. At first I was not sure I really liked the idea but as I flipped through the images I had saved, I realize the wood top creates a warmth in a sometimes otherwise cold kitchen. This is especially true if it is an all white kitchen. What are your thoughts? Do you like the look of a wood top island?

Monday Morning Happy

Where does the weekend go? I have to admit I enjoyed every second of mine!

Saturday was a total "me day" where I completely unplugged and did exactly what I wanted to do. Part of my day was spent in the Boston Public Garden reading my book under the shade of a tree. If you have never been to Boston, "The Garden" is America's first public botanical garden! It's a glorious park full of thousands of flowers, quaint bridges, the Swan Boats and the "Make Way for Ducklings" statues. Truthfully I didn't need my book to be entertained the people watching is fantastic, watching the little ones jump from duck statue to duck statue brings pure joy and I even witnessed a wedding. It was the perfect city afternoon!

Go out and pick some flowers this weekend!

YAY the weekend is finally here! Time to sit back, relax and possibly pick some flowers! This gorgeous image is from one of my "go to" inspiration ladies, Leslie of A Creative Mint. If you have never been to her blog pop on over, her photography skills are enviable and her images are sure to create a flood of happiness!

A West Elm Cottage + a few of my favs!

I remember when I picked up my first West Elm catalog how excited I was by the style and modern design of each piece. When it arrived in the mail I would stop what I was doing and examine each piece, ripping out the pages I loved to add to the inspiration folder. In a way it was even more intriguing since at the time we did not have any stores in Boston, thankfully now we have two!

When I came across West Elm's creative director Alex Bates house in Country Living, I found myself doing the same thing. Pulling the magazine closer to me hoping to get into each room and examine how she furnished every bedroom, living room and outdoor space! It's just a fantastic cottage one that exudes a casual beachy feel!

Below each photo you will see I have added a few of my current favorite West Elm pieces so you can get the look in your own house!

<span class=
Like the Jute Rug? Find a similar version from West Elm here.

<span class=
The Modern Farm Bench would be a nice addition to this table!

<span class=
There are too many headboards from West Elm to chose from, this is my favorite here.

<span class=
A few Spun Rattan Lanterns scattered about would extend the playing time outside!

<span class=
Check out the Dot Coffee Table another great option for this outdoor room!

Kitchen Stairs.....but to where?

How often do you see stairs in a kitchen? Not often, right? I have to say I think it is fantastic! There is something mysterious about it as I wonder "where do those stairs lead"? If the dinner party was in the kitchen, I would be distracted the entire night!!

<span class=
The stairs have captured my attention but there are a few other elements which I love to.

The pure white walls and cabinets give off a calm feeling and allows the table to be the focus.

Black and White squares lead to a dramatic floor and carries your eye over to the black railing and treads of the stairs!

Check out the towel bar, high up on the closet door! What a great idea, I try not to use paper towels so I always have 3 or 4 cloth ones around the kitchen.

We can't forget the exposed ceiling, something which could have looked very industrial now has a welcoming feel painted white.

Could this be a favorite kitchen of mine? That would be a double YAY!
Do you have stairs in your kitchen?

Monday Morning Happy!

Ahhh here we are back at Monday again! Did you have a great weekend? Mine was perfect! I had Vog to myself for an entire 2 days, there was no work, no family obligations, no where to be but to enjoy each others company! We had 3 meals on the deck and each was more relaxing than the next full of newspapers, books, great food and even better conversation. It all ended with a very lazy Sunday, my favorite type!

I am still dreaming of this yellow tomato bruschetta we made and think it could just be my lunch for the next few days! YUM!

Gazing out across the lake

Truth be told I am more of a beach house girl than a lake house girl but when I came across this photo over on Amy's blog....well I literally heard myself take a deep breath. Doesn't it just ooze calmness? Those Adirondack chairs are the perfect type to curl your legs around and just lean back taking in the view. Give me a book, a cup of tea and let me just spend the day getting lost in my thoughts!

<span class=

Isn't it amazing how a photo can evoke a certain feeling? Where is your favorite place to relax?
I hope you all have a great, relaxing weekend!
Thanks again for all the sweet comments you left this week! I love hearing from you and meeting new blogging friends!

Table It - Fish's Eddys Floor Plan

It's no secret, I have an obsession with tableware. Some girls collect shoes, I collect platters and table linens. So when I spotted the Fishs Eddy store while in NYC I almost did a mad dash (who am I kidding I DID the mad dash...) since I had only been able to shop it online. As soon as I walked in the store I did a quick loop around and than promptly escorted myself OUT the front door. This was a situation where the addict was a weee bit too close to her temptation, I could see my entire next client project paycheck being swept away instantly. Sigh* Instead I will just keep adding pieces to my Stylefeeder list and share them with you here!

<span class=

Hope you don't mind as I gush over these Floor Plan platters, square plates and dish towels. Could they be any more fun? I love the detail they have put into each drawing, they are so accurate with the wall depths, windows and even the bathroom fixtures! Just fantastic. Whether you live in a Studio or the Penthouse this pattern will appeal to all designers and homeowners.

Inspiring Design Ladies in NYC

Last week I hopped the train to NYC for a meet up with some of my favorite blogger and twitter friends! Dinner was one of those long (4 1/2 hrs!) casual nights full of creative conversation and swapping ideas on our professional blogging lives. I walked away so inspired by this group of amazing ladies and full of new ideas for CreateGirl and Jace Interiors!! We were so busy having fun we forgot to snap pictures but here are just a few to share

<span class=
Bottom: Emily - Good With Style, Jennifer - Kravet's Social Media Expert, Crystal - Plush Palate & Rue Magazine, Top: Me, Alix - Director of Marketing New York Design Center, Mackenzie - Design Darling, Amy -ABCDdesign

<span class=
The next morning Crystal and I were treated to an amazing tour of the New York Design Center by Alix and Alana! They are so passionate about this incredible building and for the designers who work with them. They inspired me on so many levels and even from Boston I am looking forward to following their new projects. If you are a designer in the New York area be thankful for these ladies, you are very lucky to have such a great team looking out for you!

<span class=
There are so many pieces to fall in love with at the NYDC but when I turned the corner and saw the back of this sofa....I could have passed out! It is just gorgeous! I was so quick to grab my camera that I forgot to write down which showroom this was in.

<span class=
Next we went over to ABC Home and Carpet since we had heard a lot of buzz about this building. These are a few of the pieces I fell in love with! The sofa with its extra high back, deep cushions and incredible tufting was spotted, could be perfect for a new client project.

<span class=
Next up was this rug pattern from the amazing Madeline Weinrib! Isn't it just fantastic? The deep raspberry had me dreaming of pairing it with a gray sofa, maybe similar to the one above!

<span class=
There were so so so many chairs to fall for, this sweet one was a stunner. Simple with just a bit of fancy - dark turned legs, tiny casters and a slight curved back was the perfect combination!

One other person I met and had a fantastic chat with was Anne of The City Sage, unfortunately in the midst of our in depth blogging conversation there was no thought of taking pictures!

This is yet another example of stepping away from the computer and taking the time to meet your blogging/twitter friends in person! Believe me you will be so happy you did!

Thanks to all the ladies I met on my quick trip to NYC, it was one incredible day!

Reclaimed Beach Bathroom

Beach houses, they have invaded my mind! Maybe it is the 90+ degree heat or the idea of escaping every day life for the beach but it is all I can think about. I even have a folder of beach inspiration photos labeled "daydream"! One theme which continues to show up is the idea that the "beach house" should have pieces which are reused or reclaimed it should be a space with a more relaxed feel. It would still flow but not necessarily have that "together" feel, if that makes sense! When I stumbled upon this photo I immediately knew it was going straight to the folder.

<span class=

The white washed horizontal paneling, the turquoise painted molding (notice the thin white stripe? love it!) and the reclaimed hospital wash stands, painted and used as side by side sinks. Since they are small they take up little room and with the faucet in the corner, it is an even better solution. By thinking outside the ordinary the home owner uses vintage sand pails as towel holders. All fantastic ideas!

I am signing off a bit early this week to enjoy the long weekend with friends and family! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend as well and I will see you back here on Tuesday with an update on 2 very fun events!
