Waking up to Yellow

As soon as I saw the preview of this new Gallery Stripe bedding at West Elm I knew it would be perfect for a client's guest bedroom I was working on. Doesn't it just feel like spring? Weeks later I am still thinking about those wide yellow and white striped walls. All this combined with the need for some serious sun in my life is what led me to create my latest Product Picks for Houzz, of course it is all about Yellow!

West Elm Yellow
Imagine waking up with this bedding each morning AND those striped walls? Instant sunshine....the breakfast in bed would not hurt either!

UO Gigi Nightstand
We selected these sweet Urban Outfitter Gigi tables to use next to each twin bed in the guest room! So sweet and affordable!

A favorite new introduction from Dwell Studio is the Zig Zag Rug in Citrine! I just love it paired with the shades of gray. Apparently I am all about the sharp contrast these days!

Please come on over to Houzz and check out my Ideabook! I would love to hear if you are in a yellow mood and what piece you like best!

Popping over to West Elm with Etsy

West Elm in Boston has leaped onto the Pop Up Shop wagon and I for one could not be more excited! They have partnered with Patch NYC and Etsy to highlight a few of our local artists.

One of the best parts of these type of events is meeting people I have only talked to online! Jennifer Hill of JHill Design is one of those people! Her "Toast of Italy" above is one of my favorite pieces in her Etsy shop!

If you know me at all you know I am always looking for inspiration or scouting for a clients space so while I am at West Elm tonight these are a few pieces I will be checking out!

Color Time - Ben + West Elm

Welcome to this weeks "Color Time"! When I received the latest West Elm in the mail I knew something looked different. This season there is a stronger focus on "custom" and decorating the entire room from ceiling to floor. If you have not received your catalog yet pop over to their website you will see the difference with more fabric options and a broader selection of bedding. What I am truly EXCITED about is their partnership with Benjamin Moore and pairing paint colors that work seamlessly with their finishes! Many times when I select a paint color for a client it helps to show them that color in an actual room setting and well West Elm has just assisted me with this task! Below are a few fabulous and might I say even trendy examples!

Looking for the perfect green that has a tinge of blue to it? This could be your solution!

We all know black walls are all the rage right now but if you don't want it so dark? Try "Almost Black" it has enough gray to make it bright!

Do you like this idea of furniture companies pairing with paint companies? Is it helpful for you?

**Note: As you can see above the paint chip sample online looks different than what is in the actual room photo. When choosing paint for your own home never go by what you see online, the color will always be a tad different. I suggest picking up a small paint sample at the store and paint a color swatch in the actual room, than you will never be disappointed!

A West Elm Cottage + a few of my favs!

I remember when I picked up my first West Elm catalog how excited I was by the style and modern design of each piece. When it arrived in the mail I would stop what I was doing and examine each piece, ripping out the pages I loved to add to the inspiration folder. In a way it was even more intriguing since at the time we did not have any stores in Boston, thankfully now we have two!

When I came across West Elm's creative director Alex Bates house in Country Living, I found myself doing the same thing. Pulling the magazine closer to me hoping to get into each room and examine how she furnished every bedroom, living room and outdoor space! It's just a fantastic cottage one that exudes a casual beachy feel!
