Lounge around, it's the weekend!!

This picture is from Coastal Living Magazine and is just spectacular. The view is absolutely amazing and just outside of this room is a swoon worthy infinity pool. The wicker chairs look incredibly comfy too! I imagine a group of us lounging, the table filled with yummy apps and bottles of wine. Doesn't it sound like the perfect way to spend the weekend?! I hope your weekend is filled with great friends, fabulous wine/food and hopefully a beautiful view!
See you all next week

A new view - EA

I popped over to Ethan Allen today and was so excited to see they had finally updated their website. I could not be happier!! It is now filled with bright, LARGE photos and great examples of their pieces used in actual room settings. Their new ad campaign is fantastic, very hip and modern. For decades EA was considered to be old colonial furniture but in the last 10 years they have completely revamped their line and image. I am a big believer in mixing expensive and inexpensive items together. For instance if you absolutely love a custom sofa from EA, go for it, just pair it with a less expensive entertainment unit and accents. Here are a few of my favorite images and as you can see they have a collection for all styles!

Villa - New Country bi-fold media cabinet

Global - British Classic Plantation Bed.
This has been a favorite piece for years, the number of looks that can be created with this bed are endless AND it feel like you are in a tropical hideaway!

Metro - Collectors Classics Sawhorse Desk

Park Place - Modern Glamour Dining

Metro - Savvy Living Room (including my favorite sofa, the Avanti)

Have you been into an Ethan Allen lately? Do you have a favorite piece or collection?

Hostel Interiors

Miss Sophie's in Prague

Hostels are definitely not what they use to be and thank goodness! Gone are the metal bunk beds packed into tiny rooms and cramped quarters with barely enough room for luggage. They are now replaced with creatively designed areas. If you are trekking across Europe you can now be greeted with friendly, upbeat colors and even amenities. Gasp! I know, where were these luxuries back in my time of camping out in hostels? Thanks to this article on Boston.com my eyes are wide open to a more comfortable hostel experience. Take a peak below at a few welcoming interiors!

Scouting Letters

This week, one of the items I am scouting for are letters for a child's room. We already have decals in the room so I am looking for something with a bit of dimension like wooden or mirrored letters. I have it narrowed down to these options:

mirrored letters; fun and a bit different
from Graham and Green

custom letters available in many different colors/designs in 6", 8", 10"
from "For Your Nursery"

classic white letters from Pottery Barn Kids

Do you have a favorite website for letters?

Monday Morning Happy!

Welcome to a new week! Hope you all had a great weekend. This week I am starting a new post series titled, "Scouting". It will give you an idea of what I am currently searching for and maybe it will even be useful in your own home. I promise to narrow it down to just a few options!! I encourage your comments and also suggestions about stores I might have overlooked.

The "Cute Picture of the Week" is from Graham and Green. Isn't it just adorable? The little onsey they are wearing have wings on the back and the message, "I'm a baby angel" on the front, so sweet! One of my good friends, Carrie is due in about a month and with a few clients about to give birth I have baby gifts and nursery decor on my mind!

Enjoy the week

Happy Weekend!

Welcome to the weekend! What a great week it has been. The lovely Holly over at Decor8 linked back to CreateGirl which has introduced me to many new readers! Thanks Holly and welcome to all my new friends, I hope you enjoy the posts here!

I just stumbled upon this picture and am loving it! A ladle used for a change holder, perfectly whimsical! This was displayed in a front hall, great for grabbing change for the city meters as I run out the door. Now I will be on the look out for a great vintage ladle. Do you have any suggestions?

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend

Uplifting Florals

Have you been over to the blog Frolic yet? It is absolutely fantastic! Chelsea has a great way of creating uplifting posts and introducing us to new small business owners with great shops! I just adore her Friday florals posts, its a sweet way to start the weekend! The pictures below are from a summer wedding where all the arrangements were placed in milk glass vases. Which I just love, it reminds me of my Nana who always had milk glass around her home.

Below is a vase of flowers I put together on Monday and look they have lasted all week! When the winter feels like it is dragging on I commit to buying flowers every Sunday, placing them in an area where I will see them a few times a day. It's a little act but it brings a joyful feeling of spring to me!

What flowers are you looking forward to seeing this spring? Do you have any small tricks which help you make it through a dreary winter week??

How to Thursday - Pretty Privacy

Welcome to a new "How To Thursday"! Do you have a space in your home where you need a weee bit of privacy but still want the light to filter through and are not that fond of sheers? Well here is a great solution, decorative window films. I first found these while scouting for a client. They live in a 2 story city Victorian but their bedrooms are at ground level. They had heavy woods blinds which they never opened which created a very dark room. Window films were the perfect solution! Their bedroom is now a sunny place they want to hang out during the day and there is no fear of seeing shoes from those walking by! Decorative Films could be used on the bottom portion of a kitchen window, garage doors and entry way panes. There are so many options! Below are a few pictures and links.

I love the clean crisp circle of this film from Emma Jeffs at Design Public

Emma Jeffs, Adorn Collection is available in a range of color options

This is a photo of the my clients home. It is incredibly easy to install. We measured the window and cut the film a small amount bigger than the window. Using an x-acto knife we created a tight fit. It took less than 15 mins per window!! What areas in your house would you use window films?

Swap out affordables

Take a look at this image from Veranda Magazine. See the little turquoise nesting table in the corner? I think we found an affordable option in the Mitchell Gold Mia table I blogged about yesterday. You can see it here. I love the Madison & Grow wallpaper and crisp clean feel of the room. Could the Sundayland "le telefon" table be any sweeter?!

Fresh New Magazine Alert

Things might be slightly looking up for my magazine pile! Readers Digest Association is unveiling a new shelter magazine on Feb 27. It is aimed at young homeowners, "as a bright, energetic lifestyle magazine that approaches do-it-yourself with equal measures of fun and practical value". Sounds like a winner to me! The press release stated it will spotlight 8 - 10 projects in each issue with the option to "do it yourself" or they will give you tips on budget friendly places to purchase!! OK, I am loving that feature, even the cover looks happy! I am eager to get my hands on the first issue and hope it has great success, after all you know how I love my magazines.

Happy Service with Great Design

Do you have a favorite store, one you go back to time and time again because the service is fabulous? Well that is Mitchell Gold for me. The guys who work in the Boston Store, Rock, Dustin and Andrew are fantastic, always chipper and excited to help out. Their attitude makes me want to visit many times over and in this economy happy people are worth seeking out! Below are a few of my favorite new pieces in the store.

Fantastic fabric and a great modern take on the "wingback"

Sweet graceful lines and tufted back is perfect at a dining table or tucked in a bay window. Just lovely!

Traditional lines, great interest as an accent piece. Use under a sofa table, at the end of a bed or with a vanity

Love these nesting tables in their high gloss finish of shale, the perfect POP of color!

Smaller sized sofas are fantastic and at times hard to find. This is 79"w and has clean, sleek lines

If you are in Boston stop in and say hello to the best guys in the store. I am sure they will be happy to give you a tour of their favorite pieces!

This is one of my favorite entryways from Domino Magazines Gallery Page
The perfect contrast between the white paint and dark finished floors is incredibly inviting.

Happy Longggg Weekend!

It's the weekend and one with an extra day to it! Yipppeee! This morning I found myself craving happy spring images, one website led to another and these are the pieces I was drawn to! The top image is so relaxing and I am loving the fun Boden Dress Below, very flirty! I could only wish to receive a few of these stack rings (now on sale at Banana Republic) as a Valentine's Day gift, maybe I will just give myself a present! Lastly I stumbled upon this fabric collection from Calico Corners, doesn't it just scream summer sun!? Love it!
I hope you all have time to spend with your special Valentine which could be good friends, your sweetheart or family! Oh and of course the dogs! Enjoy the next few days and pop back over on Tuesday!

Monday Morning Happy!

Happy New Week!
Everywhere you turn there will be red hearts and red roses this week. How do you feel on the holiday? To be honest I am not much of a Valentine Day Girl, it always feels so forced. Personally, I prefer to surprise someone special on a random day to let them know I care. It could be an unexpected dinner on the town, a card tucked into a bag, a box filled with the shoes you have been admiring or even something as simple as a book! Though I know many people love the holiday so in the next post I will give a few home related ideas!

The "Cute Picture of the Week" comes from a fun website Sloppy Kiss Cards. This card is named "New Love". Too cute!! It's really just adorable for custom dog ecards!

Enjoy the week,

41 days and counting down

They say it might hit 50 degrees this Sunday in the City, I am keeping my fingers crossed they are correct. If not at least I have this sweet picture of tulips taken in Copley Plaza to bring on positive thoughts. Afterall spring is only 41 days away...yes I am counting!
Have a great weekend

A City Window Seat

There is something about city life which is so calming for me! Imagine living in a home high above the buildings with the this window seat? I would be in absolute heaven...and would most likely accomplish nothing as I would spend hours looking out the window! This gorgeous room is from the Design Group Terrat Elms, beautiful! Below are a few additional rooms from their gallery.
