Room and Board Fits with Fitz

We interrupt this work day with breaking news...I finally found a piece of furniture for MYSELF!! To some this might not be big news but for me it is huge! As a designer I look at hundreds of items a day and can make quick gut decisions if something will work for a project or not but when it comes to my own home well.....it's not so quick. Remember my 6 month sofa dilemma?! Oy vey! So today as I was scouting I came across this beauty and knew without a question it would be perfect as my bedside table!! Yipppe YAY! The hubby will be so happy my magazines/books with have a home (i.e. no longer in a pile on the floor...) and I will be smiling everytime I walk in and see this beautiful piece of furniture!

Favorite Rooms of 2011

As we look back on all the gorgeous rooms that came past our desk in 2011 Ashley (who if you did not know is Jace Interiors fabulous new junior designer!!) and I picked 4 of our absolute favorites!

Lisa Sternfeld Trad Home
If I had one wish for 2012 it would be that TradHome would release another issue. It was the first time in recent memory I felt like a magazine really spoke to my personal aesthetic! I describe this room as casual elegance. I especially like the oversized floor lamps which draw your eye up to the stunning windows!

My new love, Chicago Home + Garden

I am always looking for new magazines and thanks to the internet I just came across Chicago Home + Garden. It looks like a fantastic monthly magazine. Even better they have an extremely user friendly website which is a bloggers dream! Especially when it allows me to share gorgeous summer retreats like this one in Michigan. My good friend Julie is from MI and always talking about the relaxing summer cottages there. If they are anything like this beauty, I will be right over!

I adore this dentil molding and how the glossy white chairs brilliantly play off the blue paint! With a closer look I see.....

this FANTASTIC José Esteves chandelier which is made of vintage forks and spoons. So whimsical and perfect for a fun beach house!

A simple fresh entrance, I adore the pop of aqua paint on the bench. Very beachy!

This chair in the forefront of the screened in porch, could be my new obsession piece! I love the light weight look and gentle curve. Unfortunately there is no information on where it is from, so let the search begin.

What a place to relax for a week or two! With a closer look I see....

the perfect place for a dinner party! What an amazing area to take a break from swimming, cover up from the sun and enjoy a great buffet of food.

Hope you enjoyed this Michigan retreat!

Vintage Conde

While flipping through my Vogue I came across an ad for the Conde Nast Store. It was fun to explore all the vintage covers and gorgeous photos like the ones below! Its interesting to see how things come back around. The orange dress and hat could easily pass for a "vintage outfit" in today's fashion. I would LOVE to own the necklace worn with the Dior Dress., what a statement piece. Enjoy!

A Fashionable Fire Hose

Browsing the magazine aisle yesterday I came across this Vogue cover and it stopped me straight in my tracks! To be honest most covers blend right into the next but not this one. It is stunning. Perfectly clean, crisp and elegant. I will even say, fresh!! The tone of green they have chosen quietly yells spring!

Take a close look at her red belt. Fashionable? YES. Unique? YES. Green? YES!! It is a recycled fire hose, scrubbed down of all soot and made into a slim, beautiful belt. I love this idea! Natural Collection, a UK company collected hoses from London firehouses and 50% of the profits from the belts go back to the LFB Benevolent Fund. Even better. There is one special firefighter in my family....not sure if he will like the picture of Cameron Diaz or the idea of a fire hose belt better. Though I think I might know the answer!

Swap out affordables

Take a look at this image from Veranda Magazine. See the little turquoise nesting table in the corner? I think we found an affordable option in the Mitchell Gold Mia table I blogged about yesterday. You can see it here. I love the Madison & Grow wallpaper and crisp clean feel of the room. Could the Sundayland "le telefon" table be any sweeter?!

Fresh New Magazine Alert

Things might be slightly looking up for my magazine pile! Readers Digest Association is unveiling a new shelter magazine on Feb 27. It is aimed at young homeowners, "as a bright, energetic lifestyle magazine that approaches do-it-yourself with equal measures of fun and practical value". Sounds like a winner to me! The press release stated it will spotlight 8 - 10 projects in each issue with the option to "do it yourself" or they will give you tips on budget friendly places to purchase!! OK, I am loving that feature, even the cover looks happy! I am eager to get my hands on the first issue and hope it has great success, after all you know how I love my magazines.

Goodbye.......

Anyone who knows me can tell you, when I shout "HOLY CROW" they know its something big! In this case the Big is BAD just plain Bad and sad! I am so discouraged and honestly losing my faith in my beloved publishing world. It's a known fact I have a addiction....I love love love magazines. If I am sick bring them to me, if I am happy, bring them to me and I will be happier. So today, when I learned Conde Nast was taking away another of my creative monthly "friends" I was shocked. Domino has seen the cutting block. Honestly it seems to be all the affordable accessible mags which are closing shop and that makes me a weee bit sick. Yes it is fun to dream and drool over Elle Decor but I want to see items I can actually afford!!! Domino joins the club with O at Home, Cottage Living, Home and Blueprint. OK, I will stop the on and on, all I can say is brush up on your blogroll my friends, it will be the place to be inspired from now on!!
