As a child I remember sitting under the dining table reading books and later listening to my walkman. It was my little escape from a sometimes chaotic house. Even on that thick orange shag carpet it was my little piece of heaven! Fast forward about 30 years and the smarties at "Cool Spaces For Kids" on Etsy have created this fabulous dining table tent!
Goodness knows if I had this in the 70's I am not sure I would have ever come out. I might just have made one addition...a note on the door that read "No Boys Allowed, Sisters Welcomed"!
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Private) Tour
Last week I was so excited to be included in a group of design bloggers who received a private tour of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. With the amount of amazing museums Boston has to offer this hidden gem sometimes gets overlooked but with it's new addition it has easily taken the spotlight in this town!
Most Bostonians know about the courtyard which is the center piece of the museum! It is an amazing serene oasis is in the middle of the city, while sipping your wine you are easily transported to another place. Their horticultural team is INCREDIBLE, they change out these flower beds nine times a year!
We started the tour with a wine reception in Ms. Gardner's private apartment now let me just tell you how exciting this was since this space is rarely seen by the public! A few pieces remain untouched like this incredible chandelier she brought back from France.
This desk caught my attention because at first I didn't know what it was! See the 2 lion heads? They pull out as arms that the desk top rests on. The ornate details make it a showpiece when not in use!
Next we moved into the Tapestry Room, a large open space which was used for dinner parties and musical concerts. The room is anchored by a larger than life 14th Century French limestone fireplace. This picture doesn't necessarily capture the enormity (no flash allowed!) of this working fireplace but will give you a sense of the detail! It has been painstakingly restored as you can see here.
The team at the Gardner have worked tirelessly to preserve and in some cases replicate the original objects in the room. This sweet yellow chair was created from black and white photos along with notes taken from an employee. It is a puzzle they spend hours putting together where the result are spectacular!
This photo is one of my favorites from the night. We were able to take a peek into the courtyard from the 3rd floor (again rarely open to the public). Take a minute to look at all the detail in the windows and the sweet balconies. Imagine living here?
This year the Gardner unveiled it's new building designed by Renzo Piano. The way he works with the older building pulling it into the new space with glass and subtle materials is a breath of fresh air. As you can see in this image taken by Courtney of Design New England Magazine it feels like a natural transition! For even more images pop on over to the DNE Blog!
Thanks to Matt, Andy and the entire Gardner team for this private tour, I feel so lucky to be able to enjoy this great space any time I want! Sounds like I need to play hooky next week for an afternoon at the Gardner, who wants to join me?!

Umbrella Art courtesy of Target
As the Mr. will tell you there are times my Home Mags pile up in the corner just begging to be read. When I do have time to read them I often rush through just glancing at the photos for client inspiration. Lucky for me last week I took an afternoon grabbed my ice tea and headed outside to go through my stack and boy am I glad I did! This room from designer Barbara Franceski had an unexpected element, "Umbrella Art"! She wanted to make what is usually a walk through room a show stopper and was determined to think outside the box. Thankfully a rainy day and a drying umbrella was right there for inspiration! She took her two Target (yes Target!!!) umbrellas, dismantled them, fastened the tops to the wall and tada she had a great piece of art with fabulous pattern and color! The added nailheads and fabric wallpaper just accentuate the color! Fun right?

What do you think, would you use unexpected objects for Art in your home?

Penthouse Daydreaming
Let's put a BIG fat emphasis on the word daydreaming in the above title because unless any of us have $22 million in the bank that is all we are going to be doing here. Though let's be honest at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon daydreaming of places to live (or playing on Pinterest) is what's going to get us to the end of the day. So let's get to it!
I know you were just thinking if only this place had a swimming pool it would be perfect, well hop on over to the listing and your wish will come true!
Do you have daydreams of living in a penthouse or are you someone who needs a big backyard?

With a wrap around sofa and a 2nd floor library why would anyone need to leave home?
I like the idea of this modest size kitchen (remember we are talking a $22 million house here so I can use modest in reference to this space...).
Floor to ceiling windows are a requirement of mine while daydreaming of a new house. The natural light in this room would definitely make me happy not to mention the chandeliers and high back chairs!
Last but not least is the terrace, hello fabulous outdoor room! I especially like how it is broken into dining, lounging and sunbathing spaces...ok ok I will move in NOW!

Monday Morning Happy
Hello Friends! It certainly has been a while since we have visited. I am finally back in the office after a blissful 2 week vacation...the first in my life. Now in this super relaxed mood I would love to implement a 2 week vacation twice a year. If only it would be reality. In the meantime I am back to share all my design inspiration, fun product finds and client projects with you! We are about to have a very busy summer and fall here at Jace Interiors, I can't wait to fill you in on all the details!
Stephanie Rausser's photo above is exactly how I felt while I was in Italy. Total relaxation with my biggest decision being what type of cocktail I would order! It was total serenity and in the coming weeks I will share pictures with you. In the meantime have you ever visited Stephanie's website? It is the ultimate cure for the Monday blues. Her images of the cutest kids on earth will have you smiling and humming your favorite song! This commercial for Target is one of my favorites!
What are you waiting for? Grab that afternoon tea, a piece of chocolate and pop on over to her site!
Enjoy your new week

Pinterest - Pinning with Radiant Republic
Radiant Republic is fairly new to the blogging world but you would never know it as she has jumped right in and found her voice instantly (which to some can be a BIG challenge)! Erika's blog is chock full of great lifestyle tidbits from lust worthy fashion ensembles to daydreamy interiors she has it all covered. She was also just included in the latest RUE magazine and also lends her voice to the Wayfair Blog, "My Way Home" Keep an eye out because I predict you are about to see a lot more of my friend Erika!!
When I wake up in the morning, I tuck into a cozy space with my iPad and mug of coffee to begin my day. With little room for distraction, small spaces inspire some of my best writing. And who wouldn't be inspired by spaces as lovely as these?
