Design With What You Have

A large part of Jace Interiors is focused on "Designing With What You Have". This can come about in two ways. The first option is to use what the homeowner currently owns to create a new room and the second option is to design a room that they can, overtime move pieces to other rooms in their house. Most often this starts with a color scheme that flows throughout the home. Below is a perfect example of 2 rooms which can share accents and furniture.

SGambrelHB
The blue Christopher Spitzmiller lamp is shown here in the Living Room but could also be used in the guest room as seen in the image below. The accent pillows on the chairs could also be easily moved to the bedroom to give a new feel to the space!

It is difficult to see the full scale of this round table but I would bet I could find a new home for it in the living room! It is fun to look at your current accent pieces in a new way. Living Room and Bedroom accents are often interchangeable!

When was the last time you moved a piece from one room to another? Window panels, wall decor and area rugs are easy and quick change to make a room feel new again without spending a penny! Give it a try!

Monday Morning Happy

Good Morning Lovelies! How was your weekend? The last few days, the boys were away and I had the ENTIRE house to myself. As much as I love our time together, it was pure bliss to have some "ME" time. A large part of the weekend was spent at the beach - just me, my beach chair, a book and a water bottle. I felt truly unplugged! Now I am sun kissed and refreshed!

Ercol Chiltern Collection

Most people who know me would look at these pieces and say they are not my style but I think that is the fascinating thing about design, your style can change. I came across this Chiltern collection after viewing an Ercol piece at Anthropologie and I must admit I am completely smitten!

ErcolJL
Ercol designed these mid century pieces exclusively for the UK based store John Lewis. The display cabinet is a work of art in itself, I could see this being used in a multiple of rooms!

 ErcolJohnLewis
There is something so appealing about the criss-cross feature on these chairs. A sign of good design, they didn't just stop with the back of the chair, look at the base, that detailing is beautiful!

The collection is available in black and white lacquer along with a natural oak.
Mid Century enthusiasts would be in love with this entire collection, even the table's apron is true to the style but with a more modern feel.

What do you say, would you mix in a few of these pieces with your current style?

Home Typography Tuesday

As I continue to ponder what my new home office will look like I am inspired by this wall of photos and the letters snuggled into them! The fact each image is the exact same size makes it even more appealing, maybe I will need to borrow a cutting board for this project! Fabulous, right?

A Coastal Drive

Morning Friends! I came across "Coastal Drive" on Art.com and knew it would be a perfect way to start the week off. Mr. Vog and I made a last minute road trip to Maryland over the weekend and I must admit I love a good car ride. It was not nearly as glamorous as this photo but it was indeed fun! You know you are with the right guy when you can drive 900+ miles in 48hours together!

Home Trend - Feeling Blue

It's no secret around here I love the color blue and have been daydreaming of a blue sofa in my new family room (I have just about convinced Mr. Vog that yes blue is a neutral!). Yesterday when I was scouting for a client over at Crate and Barrel Furniture they were literally rolling out their fall line and everything was in varying shades of blue! From Indigo to Navy to Porcelain walk into a store and you will see this blue trend!

The Calais Cabinet in it's vivid blue can be used in many different areas, including as a TV stand!

I can always count on Madeline Weinrib to have the most fun patterns and these pillows don't disappoint!

If you are really committed to blue than go for the Midnight Fountain Damask wallpaper from Graham and Brown, it is striking!

If you just want to add a touch of blue for the fall than look to change out your duvet cover. It is a quick, easy and affordable way to brighten up a room. West Elm just unveiled the Sketch Duvet in a beautiful Edgewater Blue!

The Liam Sofa from Mitchell Gold is in the running as my favorite sofa, I love the lines, nailhead trim, high tapered legs and in this blue it is just smashing. The perfect shade of bright and dark!

What do you think? Will you add blue to your home this year?

An Inspiring tour of NYC!

If you read CreateGirl often you know I travel to NYC for work but it has been years since I have traveled to NYC to be a tourist! This past weekend this is exactly what we did and I loved every minute! I can't believe this was my first time visiting the The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, honestly nothing could make me feel more proud to be an American. It was an emotional visit and I realized once again how fortunate I feel to have the opportunity to be a business owner especially viewing what the immigrants went through to come to this land of opportunity! Here are just a few shots from the weekend!

I was intrigued by the designs on each trunk, so beautiful and intricate! The nailhead trim and leather handles made this piece stand out.

I was overwhelmed with pride when I saw my Grandmother's name "Maravigna" on the wall of Honor at Ellis Island! Growing up I heard story after story of my Great Aunts coming from Sicily on "the boat" and to now have a visual of their arrival was incredible!

Invitations
Once home and looking through all of our photos I realized I was snapping pictures of different patterns storing them away to use for the wedding invitation design. The one on the left was found at Ellis Island on a piece of currency and the one on the right was a chair accent at the Met.

Of course I fell in love with this piece from Charles Demuth, The Figure 5 in Gold at the Metropolitan Museum. Instead of writing a tribute to his friend William Carlos Williams, Demuth used images to describe his friend.Fantastic!

Home Typography Tuesday

Yes, I could be confusing my days a bit! With the 3 day weekend I do feel like today could be Tuesday and when I saw this fun doorway over on Pinterest I just had to share!

hello
What a perfect way to welcome guests to your home, with a simple Hello! The only thing that would make this door even sweeter would be seeing the word "Thanks" as you leave the home! On another note how fabulous is this color combo of siding, molding and door?
