Headboad + Window

As I was doing a little inspiration scouting for a client's bedroom project, One image kept popping up. The bed placed directly in front of a window. I wonder if this is just for styling purposes or if this is really how the rooms were designed.

What's your opinion. Would you place your headboard directly in front of a window? Do you like this look? Please comment, I would love to hear from you!

We used to have our bed against our windows but it freaked my husband out so we moved it to a solid wall - I think it can be stunning, though.

I love the look because sometimes it is the only way to center the bed in a small room in order to make it the focal point of the room. As long as the headboard doesn't cover up too much of the window I think it is completely acceptable!

I have done this before and actually really like the look. Sometimes the window wall is the best wall in terms of placement, so why not!

Okay Create-Girl...

I don't comment a lot on blogs, but on this one I want to chime in.

I love the look. However, we just sold an apartment where putting the bed in front of the window was our only choice.

I believe it leads to restless sleep. We never felt "safe" with the windows behind our heads.

So there, it is a good idea in theory, but not so good in practice - in my opinion.

Keep up the great posts!

I love the look, but personally, I like to have a window to the side of the bed so I can look out in the morning and see what the day will bring :-)

Personally, I find it unnerving to sleep directly under a window. But I do agree that the framing of the window frames a beautiful bed, but I think it's impractical.

i prefer not to have it directly in front of the window, although i've had it there in the past (since that's what was best at the time)...i prefer to be able to enjoy the view.

Those pictures look lovely. In my small guest room, the best is under the windows because that is only place it fits, it looks really pretty when the light shines in also.

Putting the bed under the window let you see if it's snowing without getting your feet cold

I like to get in on this one. NO DON"T DO IT. Firstly a window brings in light to a room, gives you a view and well it is bad feng shui. I don't live to the letter of Feng Shui but this one is obvious.

I love this look. We did this in our guest room. The headboard doesn't cover much of the window. The light that comes in is filtered by the vegetation outside the window. The room has a very soft, calm feel to it.

mine's in front of our big window, and i love it!! however, if it's the ONLY window in the room, and there are other options... not sure it would be my first choice :)

Ours is in front of a window, but more bc there's not another place for it... The other walls have windows, doors, and/or closets spaced too closely for a bed. I don't mind it at all though. And these examples are all quite nice. I especially love the one with the red patterned bed cover.

My bedroom is so small that the only place I can put my queen size bed is in front of the room's only window. Satisfying feng shui principles is the least of my concerns (let's just say I take a much more common-sense approach to interior design,) but my practical side wants to maintain a quick emergency exit from the room should the need ever arise. Currently, I can physically get out through the window, but only because I haven't yet installed a headboard for my bed. In the meantime, my beautiful collection of bed pillows are unable to be properly displayed and I am experiencing a design quandry!
