Very cool. I wouldn't pick it at a store, if you know what I mean, but the overall effect is way cool and is a good break from the more traditional furniture in the room.
Hm. I think I'd have to go with "Nay." I do appreciate the contrast those chairs have against the other traditional pieces. I like the idea, but would execute it differently if it were me. I think I would dig it more if it was a brushed stainless or a more industrial finish.
My first thought was "fingerprints!" My second thought, I'd prefer it in a different color. But ultimately, I think the rusty color is a nice contrast. I think they are fabulous.
I want to say "yea" because I think it's a cool idea, but something about it isn't sitting right with me. I think I'd like those chairs better if they were the same fabric all over.
I'm divided. I think I like the idea but I don't think I love it on that shape chair. I'm inspired to DIY it on a wood framed and upholstered dining chair.
I agree-- in a house with no children I think a young hip couple could totally pull it off....but I don't think I'm bold enough to choose them for my own house! It's a fun statement/ conversational piece though!
Hmmmmmm....I really think they are very glamorous....but not very practical -- esp. if you have kids. So yay to glamour but nay to function!! :-D Christine / @GlamaMama
i love it! i love furniture that is different-unique. restoration hardware has a similar chair..called the aviator chair but with stainless steel which i am just gone over.
Wow, not my cup of tea but maybe they were trying to keep the cats from using the backside of the chair as a scratching post. Can't think of any other reason to do this.. :-)
This is fantastic and it has been so fun reading all the different opinions! Now that a few days have gone by I will include my 2 cents...for me it is a Nay only because I can't stand a dirty mirror and feel like since it is so close to the floor it would be showing the dirt/dust all the time! Ck back in next week for another Let's talk!

ReplyDeleteHmmm.... Not sure I'm sold on mirrored "upholstery." Maybe I'm not enough of a risk taker :)

ReplyDeleteMirrors can be lovely, but I don't love them on chairs! I say shine and sparkle in moderation ;-)
