High Point Market Fall 2011 Trends - Accents

The High Point Market Fall 2011 recaps continue today with accents! My favorite part of designing is definitely the accessories and you could tell from my photos, half of the 300+  were of lamps, pillows and art work! These pieces are definitely the jewels of a room!

HighPointJALamp
The turquoise and gold combo of the Electra Table Lamp from Jonathan Adler was one of the first pieces that captured my attention! So chic!

Arteriors Table Lamps High Point Fal 2011. CreateGirl
Arteriors Showroom was packed with such gorgeous pieces it was hard to narrow it down. The Raven Shadow Lamp with it's curvy features solidified that gray is here to stay. The washed stripe affect on the right lamp was so subtle but made such a statement!

Visual Comfort
Oversized lamps and especially oversized lamp shades were everywhere I turned. I have to say I like this exaggerated look! You know when you stop into Visual Comfort you are in for a treat, their designer collaborations are unlike any others! Cream or white accented by gold was a BIG trend at the show. Gold was literally in every showroom!

Tobi Fairley Pillows High Point Fall 2011.CreateGirl
During Market the incredibly talented (and delightful) Tobi Fairley introduced her fabric line at Hickory Chair. I was immediately drawn in by the sharp yellow and gray contrasted against white. These would wake up any living room or bedroom setting! To see even more hop on over here.

Ryan Studio High Point Fall 2011. CreateGirl
Ahhh I could have spent all day perusing the pillow collection at Ryan Studio! This is what High Point is all about visiting your old favorites but also finding new ones like this company. I absolutely love that each pillow is welted and most with a contrasting welt. I wish more companies would have such an attention to detail, it makes the pillows feel much more custom! Blue was a common theme in all accents.

Legacy Home High Point Fall 2011. CreateGirl
The bedding ensembles at Legacy Linen had me redecorating my own master bedroom! The luxurious fabrics were absolutely stunning and you could not help but sigh with happiness when you touched them. Dramatic? Maybe, but absolutely true! The above duvet is named Lexington Mist.

Suzanne Kasler Lee Jofa High Point Fall 2011
Suzanne Kasler also introduced a new fabric line for Lee Jofa. This pretty pattern with it's bright florals felt like summer to me!

High POint
The equestrian theme was still going strong as seen in the Global Views Showroom!

Tufted Mirror High Point Fall 2011. CreateGirl
Remember in the Upholstery Recap I talked about "overall tufting"? Well it's not just for sofas anymore, though I am not sure exactly how I feel about this piece.

High Point Oly
These little guys at Oly stopped me in my tracks, they are just too sweet and of course I wanted to take them home!

What accessory trends do you like for the upcoming year? Did you not get enough? I uploaded all of my accent photos to Facebook, check out my Jace Interiors & CreateGirl page!

High Point Market Casegoods Trends

Welcome to Day 3 of the High Point Market trend recaps! Today we will chat about casegoods. There were so many beautifully crafted pieces. There was an apparent move from dark woods to lighter, almost happier tones I wonder if this has something to do with a more optimistic attitude that was felt throughout the show. Do you prefer dark finishes to lighter ones?

Baker
The combination of materials was a definite theme at Market. The Tanabe Side Table from the Milling Road Collection at Baker Furniture is a perfect example. The bamboo base is even more beautiful in person!

I asked Lisa of Decor Mentor, a fellow Style Spotter what casegood trend she saw during the show.

"I am loving the new trend away from dark woods towards gorgeous medium tones on woods with a lot of grain movement, like ash and quartered oak." This Bernhardt Elements Bookcase Desk is a great example.

CenturyFurniture
Century Furniture introduced a lovely new finish, dove gray. It adds such a glamorous feel to a room and especially to this stacked chest of drawers.

SomersetBay
Painted interiors on wood pieces is a trend that is still going strong! I loved the bright green interior of the Camden Display Case at Somerset Bay Home! It was such a great addition to this pretty piece!

dwellstudio
Bunching tables of all sizes and shapes were everywhere! I especially liked the Haviland from Dwell Studio. It's available in the silver above and a new gold finish!

 CurreyCo
Rotating pieces like the above "Dizzy" cocktail table at Currey & Co. were very popular! Especially with the gold & black finish. I like the fun element it brings to a space!

High Point Market Wall Decor Trends + Typography

Happy November Friends! The second day of home decor trends continues with wall decor and because it is Tuesday a bit of Typography thrown in for fun!

HPCharlieWaite
Black and White photography was a big trend through out the show. This Charlie Waite scene literally drew me right in and had me daydreaming of more serene days!

HPwalldecor

HPWallDecor
The Trowbridge Gallery had both these prints above. The reproductions were so beautiful and all over the show we saw them in both color and black and white.

HPswaygrl
I asked the lovely Olivia (aka @swaygrl) what she saw as a wall decor trend at High Point and this is what she had to say.

"The Phillips Co. showroom displayed natural wood used simply as wall art! Gorgeous, patterns that nature has provided brings in a warmth to a room, that might otherwise feel too sterile and cold."

HPBeeLineHome
Bunny Williams and her BeeLine Home woke us all up with this gorgeous red lacquered "Ohm" mirror! Seriously a fabulous piece! Expect to see more colored frames and mirrors over the next year.

HPDwellStudio
Oversized artwork as seen in the Dwell Studio showroom was a big trend! Whether a photograph or a simple image of geometric shapes, oversized art work is here to stay!

HPHickory
Hickory Chair Co filled my desire for typography with this enormous print leaning up against a wall.

Did you miss yesterday's post on the Upholstery Trends? Hop on over here. Tomorrow we will focus on the casegood side of market and let me tell you, the pieces are incredible! I even found a new to me company that I am just in love with! See you tomorrow.

High Point Market Upholstery Trends

As I mentioned there is over 10 million sq ft of showroom space at High Point Market which means it is nearly impossible to see everything! As for upholstery there were a few common themes throughout the show.

HP tufting
Tufting continued to be a strong presence at the fall show. It was not limited to the seat or back but the entire piece, I labeled this "overall tufting"!

 HP CurveSofa2

HPcurvesofa1
Interesting sofa backs were everywhere which I loved! When a back is so pretty it lets us float the sofa in a room. Some had gentle curves while others had stronger angles.

HPchannel
Channeling, some people love it and some people are not a fan but it seems like a trend and not just for the modern group. These pieces were even mixed with more rustic casegoods.

Both nailheads and round pulls were a lovely detail on many pieces. This Palecek dining chair combined these trends seamlessly!

HPcolor
Colorful upholstered pieces lead to a happy feel around the home. The exaggerated wingback continued to be a trend manufacturers love!

Peacocks on sale!

Whenever I am lost in what to blog about I always jump over to my Stylefeeder list and remind myself of the latest items that have caught my eye. I noticed a bit of a pattern when I saw that I had multiple items with a bit of a "peacock" feel. Better yet when Stylefeeder helped me jump back to their website pages, to my delight I was faced with SALE prices!! Fantastic. I am still quite smitten with the Lola pillow. It's azure gold, orange, plum & navy could start the color story of many many rooms!

All but one (I couldn't resist) are under $100 so go ahead enjoy the gray!!

All about the Orange

Over at Stylefeeder I wrote a post for the Tastemakers Diaries about how Orange is everywhere in home decor right now. Today I will expand a bit on the topic as I have come across a few more orange pieces I am in love with.

Joom's store on Etsy is chock full of orange pieces! Two which I adore are the Tweetie Print with an orange bird and also a pillow with the Cardinal on Agapanthus. So sweet, I love her store as all of her pieces are always so crisp and clean, oh and very affordable!

From LuLu DK Matouk we have the Tiger Lily Duvet. I am completely in love with the simple but luxurious look of this bedding ensemble. The coral color is so light and soothing, I believe even the most restless sleeper could sleep well here!

Pottery Barn
has a fantastic Orange Leather Dining Chair, the Grayson. This picture gives me a feeling of a cozy fall Sunday dinner. Doesn't it just feel welcoming?!

I love a good burst of color in each room and that is where these trend color can be particularly impactful. As you can see in the photos above none of the pieces except for the dining chairs are that expensive. They are all accent pieces which is exactly where a trend should be used. That is unless you have loved a certain color for years and do not see yourself getting sick of it after a season. With orange there is such a great range, coral, pumpkin, tangerine, terra cotta and the list goes on and on.
How do you feel about orange, would you add accents in your own home?

Stage Lighting

Lately I have seen a trend of what I like to call "movie lighting". These are floor lamps which look like they belong on a stage or movie set! They will definitely add high drama to any room. Though some can be grossly oversized so just beware when choosing one, make sure it fits the scale of your room. Below are a few of my favorites!

The Stage Floor Lamp from CB2 is perfectly named

The Photographers Tripod Lamp from Pottery Barn is another great option.
I love the dark wood and bronze mix, it has a classic cinema feel.
